Known for his work in the entertainment industry, Zuri Kye Edwards was born on 17th July of 1973 to Patti Labelle and Armstead Edwards. He was the firstborn of the couple who later became his moms’, the famous singer Patti LaBelle’s manager and produced the three marvellous movies.
Early Life
Zuri Kye Edwards and his family were based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the United States, when he was born; therefore, his nationality by birth is American.
He has three siblings, Stanley Stocker-Edwards, Dodd Stocker-Edwards, William Holte and is currently married to Lona Edwards. By profession, he is a talent manager and a producer, and he is currently Patti Labelle’s manager.
About his Family
Zuri’s mother, Patti Labelle, is a famous singer and actor in America. She has starred in a number of popular Tv shows, including American Horror story, A different world, flame etc. She also starred in a Tv sitcom, named, “Out all night” and hosted numerous Tv shows following this.
Before marrying Patti, Zuri’s father, Armstead Edwards, was a school teacher. He later became Patti’s manager until 2000, when Patti announced that they were legally separated and had filed for divorce. The couple’s divorce was finalized in 2003.
Patti’s Encounters
Patti became the victim of sexual assault by Jackie Wilson at the Brevoort Theatre in Brooklyn during the 1960s. Shortly after, Patti was engaged to a pioneer of the Temptations, Otis Williams, but it didn’t last for long as Patti broke off the engagement, fearing that her career was at risk.
She then married her long time friend, Armstead Edward, a school teacher and had Zuri together in 1973.
Patti said once in an interview that her most outstanding achievement is her son, Zuri. Even though he can be hard to work with, she realizes that he has the family’s best interests at heart and wants to get things done right.
Zuri’s mother’s side of the family also has a history of sudden, young deaths. Patti mentioned in her autobiography that she was afraid that she wouldn’t even make it to 50. However, on her 50th birthday, she stated that she felt like her life had just begun. Not even a year later, she was diagnosed with diabetes.
