None of the unfortunate occurrences in John’s life were more agonizing than the traffic accident in September 2000, which broke both of his legs and his teeth. He began his stand-up comedy career by performing at a local comedy club’s amateur night. Henton worked at a paint warehouse during the day and took computer studies in the evenings in 1982. He opted to perform at a Cleveland comedy club’s amateur night. Henton won the amateur night competition on his second performance.
Henton made his acting debut in the FOX comedy series Living Single in 1993 as Overton Wakefield Jones.
Henton has played Overton Wakefield Jones in ‘Living Single’ (Fox sitcom). He also played Milsap Morris in ‘The Hughleys’ (ABC/UPN sitcom). Henton has appeared as a guest on several other sitcoms, including For Your Love, One on One, The Parkers, Love That Girl, and Hannah Montana.
Unfortunately, he had a horrific car accident in September 2000 that damaged his left eye socket, damaged his legs, his teeth, and while ripping up his stomach. The incident severely damaged the actor’s face, but significant plastic surgery repaired most of the facial appearance.
Although Henton now resides in Los Angeles, he will always consider Cleveland to be his home. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his gorgeous daughter, Nicole Simone Henton. He is now honing his golf talents.
