Plunderer is an action-fantasy-based anime series adapted from the manga series of the same title, written and illustrated by Suu Minazuki. The manga series has been published by Kadokawa Shoten’s Monthly Shōnen since December 2014.
Plunderer anime was produced by GEEKTOYS studio (the studio that gave us Hensuki) and released in the spring of 2020. The anime quickly gained popularity around the world when it was released.
WHAT IS THE PLOTLINE OF THE PLUNDERER ANIME?
Plunderer is set in an apocalyptic world of numbers. In the Plunderer world, every human has a number called “count” which represents their life. In the Plunderer world, every human earns a new point for every action they take throughout their lives. When they don’t collect new points, they begin to lose points one by one until their point drops to zero. When a person’s count drops to zero they may end up in the abyss.
Hina has to find the Red Baron after her mother’s score drops to zero. During her journey, she meets Litch, a swordsman who has a low score. They both embark on the journey to find the Legendary Red Baron together.
WILL THERE BE A SECOND SEASON OF PLUNDERER?
There’s not been any information from GEEKTOYS studio for a second season of the Plunderer anime series. We can only speculate whether there will be a season 2 of the anime series. Does the source material have enough content for a second season, and how popular is the series?
MANGA
The manga has 21 volumes, with its last publication being on the 26th of April 2022.
How many volumes/chapters of the manga are adapted into the first season? The first season of Plunderer covers 10 volumes and 38 chapters of the available 21 volumes and 82 chapters. With up to 44 chapters left from the manga, we expect that the source material is enough for a second season. However, we cannot expect the second season to come anytime soon since the source material recently got completed. It will take a while before the source material is adapted to create another season if we get news of the renewal of the series.
POPULARITY
The anime series has gained so much popularity since it was first released. It is ranked 586th on Myanimelist popularity ranking as it also has search popularity on Google. However, the volume of disc sales fell below expectation as it only managed a sales of 200 copies in the first volume sales, instead of the expected 3000 to 4000 sales. The popularity of Plunderer on Twitter is poor, with only 16k followers. This is not good considering that other anime series that are getting new seasons have over 100k followers on Twitter.
WHEN IS THE SECOND SEASON OF PLUNDERER?
There is no news for Plunderer season 2 yet, but the manga has enough source material to make a second season. The anime is not so popular in Japan but is fairly popular outside Japan. If there will be another season, we must know that it is impossible to get it before 2023, considering how long the production would take.
WHO ARE THE CHARACTERS IN PLUNDERER?
Bach, Licht
Licht Bach, real name; Sakai Rihito is the main male protagonist in the anime. He is the Flash Baron, one of the 7 Legendary Red Baron. He tries to conceal his identity in the series as he is known as a degenerate since he has a low count.
Hina
She is the main heroine of the series. Hina is a lonely girl who lives with her mother in the mountains until her mother’s death. Following her mother’s death, she traveled for five years in search of the Legendary Red Baron.
Mei, Lyne
She is a secondary character in the anime. Mei Lyne is a Sergeant who protects Hoemmh at the side of a hill.
Murdoch Jail
Murdoch Jail is a deuteragonist in the Plunderer anime series, he is a lieutenant in the Althea royal guard.
Poporo Pele
He is the tritagonist in Plunderer. Poporo Pele, also known as Gespenst, is Mei Lyne’s henchman and friend.
