The Lion Guard Season 4

The Lion Guard is an American animated television series that is a sequel from Disney’s 1994 classic film titled The Lion King as developed by Ford Riley.

The series premiered their first season titled The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar on Disney Channel in November 2015 and by January 2016 on Disney Junior.

It is the second sequel from The Lion King: Simba’s Pride following Timon and Pumba’s movie special.

The show revolves around the second-born cub of Simba and Nala named Kion who inherited the gift of The Roar of the Elders, a power that can lead the Lion Guard as the fiercest lion protecting and defending the Pride Lands.

The television series ranked first across preschooler networks in Total Viewers since the broadcast of their first season. The series then welcomes a second season which was broadcasted and aired in July 2017 followed by its third and final season in August 2019.

Here are some things you need to know about the animated television series of all time.

The Lion Guard Season 4: Cancelled for Disney TV, But Why?

The Plot

The Lion Guard is about the story of Prince Kion, the second-born cub of King Simba and Queen Nala next to Kiara.

Being a second-born he inherited the gift called the Roar of the Elders that comes with a heavy responsibility of becoming the leader of the Lion Guard protecting the pride land and defending the Circle of Life.

However, Prince Kion is the first lion leader to form a Lion Guard with members that were not lions instead of a random group of four animals consisting of a cheetah, hippo, egret, and honey badger.

The group is being guided by Kion’s grandparents namely Sarabi and Mufasa from above. Season 2 came with Scar, Kion’s uncle with a resolve to reclaim the Pride Lands.

Scar is the evil brother of Simba whose sole role in the movie is to cause distress and heartbreak to us when Mufasa died in Lion King as such that even the pride landers are extremely worried about his appearance.

But with Kion leading the Lion’s Guard, together with newly found members, they became victors against Scars’ army of vultures.

As the third season followed, the Lion Guards started their adventure out of the pride lands to seek the Tree of Life to cure Kion and Ono’s injuries from the battle they had in season 2.

Soon, they reached the Tree of Life and met Rani, the Night Pride’s leader who protects the tree of life and later became Kion’s Queen. After they had their injuries healed, a group of lions took over their pride land and Kion accepted them to lead the Lion Guards.

Kion went back to the Tree of Life and married Rani. Together they rule and protect the Tree of Life with his friends who are now not a Lion’s Guard instead of someone part of Kion’s Circle of Life.

Many are asking for a season 4 for the television series however, it seems that the Lion Guard is ending with just that cliffhanger leaving its audiences the benefit of the doubt of what happens next as King Kion and Queen Rani reigns over the land.

Casts and Characters

The main characters and casts from the series are Max Charles as the voice of Kion, the leader of the Lion’s Guard,  Diamon White as the voice of Fuli, a friend of Kion and a king cheetah, Dusan Brown as the voice of Beshe the hippopotamus, Atticus Shaffer as the Voice of Ono the smartest egret, and lastly to complete the Lion’s Guard members is Bunga the honey badger as voiced by Joshua Rush.

The series also welcomes the alumni from Lion King movies such as Simba as voiced by Rob Lowe, Nala by Gabrielle Union, Kiara by Eden Riegel, Timon by Kevin Schon, Pumba by Ernie Sabella, and Scar as voiced by David Oyelowo.

Movie Crew

The creator and executive producer of the television series are Ford Riley, the same person who created the 1994 Disney classic, The Lion King.

In order to maintain the animation and image of the characters from The Lion King, director Howy Parkins did extensive research as well as successfully obtaining some original model sheets of the alumni characters.

The production crew of the series also revealed that the animals in the movie are thoroughly observed from Serengeti, carefully molding each character without being overt.
