We all know that first impressions count, and that a picture is worth a thousand words. So organising professional headshot photographs for your company’s employees, or having your own personal headshot taken, will have an impact on the image of yourself and/or your business.

“At ABS Photography, we understand the importance of creating a positive and lasting impression. Whether you’re looking to organize professional headshot photographs for your company’s employees or capture your own personal headshot, our skilled photographers can help you enhance your image and elevate your business’s reputation.”

Whether you are updating your website, organising business cards, or adding profile pictures to LinkedIn, before booking the session with your photographer, it is important to know the message you are trying to portray to your customers.

By being congruent with your brand image, it will make your headshot preparation easier. Some words which you may consider incorporating into your image would be: trustworthy, professional, genuine, upbeat, conservative, approachable, powerful, relatable, personable, focused and determined.

Your company’s brand is not just about the logo, it is about the people who support the company and how they portray the business. You could ask a colleague to help, by giving an honest opinion of you, to ensure it aligns with the message you are trying to portray. You should also be able to refer to the company’s mission statement and values to put together the message you’d like to portray through your headshot images.

Be rest assured, at Headshots Express, we will make sure your image is aligned with your character and your company, and we can consult with you prior to your booking for your peace of mind.

Once you decide to book in your headshot photography session, you can prepare and plan for the big day. Finding out things like :

1- Where the headshot/ content is going to being posted:

Are you looking to update your linked in profile? Or are you adding an ‘about me’ section to your company’s website? Knowing where your image is going to be displayed will help the team style and run your session. Sometimes it is important to see part of the uniform, other times it is not relevant. Having an idea about where the images are going to be placed will give you a better feel of the style and colour choices for uniforms etc.

2- Formatting:

Are you needing your or images to be cropped horizontally? Or do they need to have a vertical crop? Also will the orientation need to be landscape or portrait? Will you need more than one final image? Figuring this out prior to your booking will allow the correct preparation. You may need to consult with your IT or website and marketing team to get the correct information. Your

photographer should be able to give you technical advice, however if there are specific dimensions and requirements, it is best to go into your session prepared.

3- Setting:

Do you want an outdoors photoshoot? Will the weather allow it this season? Would you be comfortable with a ‘wet weather’ option like backdrop indoors at your office, or at the photography studio? Or are you able to re-book the shoot when the weather is better? (keep in mind the photographer’s specific cancellation policy). If you are unsure, make sure you reach out to the photographer to get their advice.”

Week of the photoshoot:

As the photoshoot is approaching, here are some ways to ensure you can put your best ‘face’ forward and achieve the best image with your photographer.

1-Get lots of sleep and stay hydrated! This will bring out the best in your skin! It is recommended to have 7- 8 hours of sleep each night, and 2 litres of water per day. Making a conscious effort to ensure you are looking after yourself in the lead up to your photoshoot will make a difference to the radiance of your skin.

2-Consider getting your hair and make-up professionally done. Having a professional appointment is always a treat! This will not only add an additional confidence boost, it will give you a brilliant glow for your photoshoot. If you are not going to be booking a professional appointment, please consider blocking out some additional time in your diary to allow for you to do make up and hair yourself.

3- Choose your outfit.

Make sure your clothing is clean, wrinkle-free, professional, and reflects your personality. You and the company may have specific attire guidelines, therefore, double check on their guidelines, or send out to the team in advance so they can be prepared.

4- Posing and Practice

While it sounds hilarious to ‘practice smiling in the mirror’, you will be surprised how much difference it makes by trying out which poses you like better. Don’t be freaked out, because the photographer will pose you and remind you to smile- but being prepared to show your ‘good side’ will make it more comfortable for you on the day, and quicker for the photographer to get the best shot!

All in all- have fun! Spending a short period in front of the camera will prove to be a well worth investment in yourself and the image of the company.
