Marion St. Pierre MacDowell

Marion was born in 1925, March in Columbia, South Carolina. He was born to the late William MacDowell and Rainsford Fairbanks Dubose MacDowell as the fourth. During the birth of Marion, his father was 32, and his mother was 30.

Marion is known to have attended school in Gaffney, where he graduated from Gaffney Highs school and later from Sewanee: The University of the South. Moreover, he is remembered to be a veteran of World War II.

Marion St. Pierre MacDowell was recognized as a famous businessman and a family man. Andie MacDowell is his famous daughter, who is an actress and model. Still, he also has other family members, including a survived second wife and a stepdaughter.

Marion’s Marriage and Family

Marion got married to Pauline Johnston Oswald before 1958. He lived in towns like Limestone, South Carolina, Cherokee, the United States in 1940, and Conover. After the marriage of Marion and Pauline, they were blessed with a daughter Rosalie Anderson “Andie” MacDowell, in 1958. The daughter grew up beautiful, becoming an American actress and model.

Moreover, Marion had another wife, Mary Frances Stone MacDowell, a son, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Marion’s Daughter Andie

The renowned American actress and model has received three Golden Globe award nominations. Andie was born in Gaffney, South Carolina, to Marion and Paula, a music teacher. Andie is mainly of Scottish descent, and she spent her early life in Arden, where the family owned an antebellum-era summer house in North Carolina. The house has since been made into a bed and breakfast named the Blake House Inn.

Andie attended college in Winthrop for two years before relocating to Columbia, South Carolina. While in Columbia, she worked two jobs in a clothing boutique and a restaurant/ bar. While working in the restaurant, she got the opportunity once serve Senator Strom Thurmond.

Andie started her modeling career in the 1980s, and since then, she has gotten several awards in the industry. Moreover, in 2004, she was recognized by Winthrop College and awarded a Media Honor in the Arts. Also, she appears in print and television advertisements for the cosmetic and hairline company L’Oreal.

Andie was first married from 1986 to1999 to a fellow model, Paul Qualley, whom she met while posing for the Gap ads. The couple was blessed with a son Justin and two daughters, Rainey and Sarah Margaret. Additionally, she was married to businessman Rhett Hartzog from 2001 to 2004.

Andie MacDowell currently stays in the town of Baltimore Forest near Asheville, North Carolina, and she is a hiker and general-outdoors woman.

Marion’s Death

Marion St. Pierre MacDowell passed on at age 89 on 23rd May 2014. He died at the Levian Hospital House in Huntersville, Mecklenburg, North Carolina, and was buried in the company of his family and friends in Newton, Catawba, North Carolina.

In addition to the death of Marion’s parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Bayard Dedman, Margaret McElveen, and brothers, Dubose MacDowell and Vinson MacDowell.
