He is best known by the name DJ Pauly D and for his appearance as one of the housemates in a popular MTV reality series called “Jersey Shore”. Early Life
Pauly D was born Paul D. DelVecchio Jr. in Providence, Rhode Island, USA on July 5, 1980 to Italian origin parents Paul D. DelVecchio Sr. and Donna DiCarlo and went on to attended Johnston High School in Rhode Island.
Paul was inspired to be a DJ from early on in his life and had decided to pursue music, more specifically DJ, as a career. He started his journey by performing as a DJ in local clubs and bars and soon gained popularity as well as his stage name Pauly D. Under this name, he was noticed by TV producers and other media people who eventually pursued him to join the show business.
Personal Life
Pauly D has not had a lot of relationships within his industry. Although in 2013, he announced the birth of his daughter Anabella Sophia in New Jersey without revealing any information about her mother.
And in 2016, he started dating musician and reality TV personality Aubrey O’Day and the couple split within a year.
Career
Pauly D was handpicked by MTV for their reality show “Jersey Shore” but when he was cast in this show, he was already an up-and-coming DJ in his area. He later revealed that he was contacted by the makers of the show through Myspace and was visited by a team to film him for a day and six months later, he was cast for the show.
After his appearance on the show in 2009, his music career also picked up pace and in 2010, his single “Beat Dat Beat” won him the nomination as “America’s Best DJ” for 2 consecutive years. He was also featured in multiple columns such as Time.
In 2011, he signed a three-album deal with 50 Cent’s record labels and he also performed with Britney Spears for the opening act in Spear’s “Femme Fatale Tour”. The following year, he collaborated with Big Sean for his new albums.
He was also a content in 2012 Fox show called The Choice and his single “Back to Love” with British singer Jay Sean was featured to the UK Singles Chart and he also scored his own 12-episode show called The Pauly D Project based on his DJ career.
In 2016, he appeared on another TV reality show called “Famously Single” in its first season and he also made his film debut with “Spring Break Zombie Massacre”.
More recently, in 2018, he was recalled to be a part of the reboot of Jersey Shore called the Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.
